Open any glossy magazine and you are deluged with pictures of wonderful (and expensive) outfits - some of them wonderful, some of them a little over the edge, but all of them interesting. The challenge comes in pulling inspiration from these pictures - and interpreting them to your personal taste.

**Inspirations** is an ongoing adventure - taking a picture from a glossy magazine and creating the outfit from the line of Brensan Patterns. I am the first to admit that I'm a trifle conservative, so for those of you who are more adventuresome, I hope you will put your own personal spin on these fun outfits.

INSPIRATION

INTERPRETATION

The fabulous lace skirt and jacket ensemble was featured in a magazine recently. The blazer is a classic wool plaid and the skirt is actually a dress and I think from Bebe, but can't really tell from the print on the page.

Patterns I used from the Brensan Line:
The Tasmania Jacket - made right by the pattern in Quilt Cottons and Cotton Batiks
Parasol Skirt - right by the pattern in black lace with a separate cotton/silk blend slip underneath. This Lace Skirt Project is discussed in the Techniques Section of the website.
I like knee-length skirts, but the Parasol also has a long boot-length version for those who prefer a longer skirt.
Cowl Neck Pullover - almost right by the pattern. I did exchange sleeves from the Basic Shells and add a flute at the wrist - details are in this blog.
