....... Sharing with him his pleasant home are his wife and six children. On the 22nd of
April, 1875, Mr. Griswold married Miss Rose W. Loring, of Vermontville, who was born
in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1852, and is a daughter of Allen T. and Eliza (Oliver) Loring,
whose sketch will be found elsewhere in this volume. A lady of culture and refinement,
highly endowed with the grace of nature and art, she has the respect and love of her
many friends and acquaintances and is an acknowledged leader in the social world.

JULIA FOOTE DIARY - 1907, Manhatten, NY
--Alices birthday  Hot 70 Saturday March 23, 1907 Potsdam arrived.  I went to 10 Mass.  
After went to market, met Eugene he told me of Douglas Olcotts illness.  
I went to Alice's to leave a gift from Fannie & me there.  Nellie Loring here for lunch.  
Gussie Childs came later.
--Cold & Cloudy Sunday March 24, 1907 Palm Sunday We went to 7: Mass.  Father Ritchie 
blessed &  gave the palms - church at 11 - Lena was there.  Mary went out at 11 A.M. 
home to serve dinner.  I wrote Tommy for Tuesday steamer & wrote Nellie Loring for 
May's address in Europe.
--Monday March 25,1 907 Mass at 10 - I went to Lena's at 3 & met Nellie & Annie McD  
Alice &  Fannie Perkins.  Lina went to Vespers with us.

--Lovely Wednesday January 15, 1908 We went to Wolfe corset maker - ordered 2 corsets for 
Fannie  8.70.  Nellie Loring called while we were out.  Kate Dinsmore phoned & so did 
Jessie & Alice  later.  In the evening we went to Rector's class.  Mr Emerson walked home 
with us.  Mrs Madden  here.
--Thursday June 4, 1908 Lovely day.  Nellie Loring came for lunch.  Tommy home.  Tom came 
later –  had tea – went out after dinner.  Tommy came late 7:15 had dinner heard rumor of 
Mrs Gwynns  engagement.  Eugene & Lina here this evening.  Maren out.
--Wednesday July 15, 1908 Al Nellie Loring lunched here.  Fannie went with her to Riverside.  
Howard dine here.  Tommy went out afterwards.  Home about 11.

--Wednesday August 19, 1908 Warm – home – wrote Nellie Loring.  Julia White phoned for me 
to  lunch at Colony Club with Jessie.  I could not go.   Expected them here but they did 
not come.  Fannie took blue pills.  Patricia arrived at "Plymouth" left here Sat Aug 8th.
