Black Silk Bellagio Blouse

Wow, That's a lot of Bs!

The top is the Bellagio Blouse, right by the pattern. The only changes I made were to take all the vertical seams in 1/8" at the waistline. I did this after making the blouse, but before the hemline. I might have taken the side seam in a bit more for a more tailored effect. I also have very skinny arms, so I tapered the sleeve. I came in 3/8" from each side where the sleeve meets the cuff. The cuff has a mark that lines up with the underarm seam, so altering the cuff to match was easy. I made the cuff change straight, so it was 3/8" smaller where it meets the sleeve as well as 3/8" smaller at the lower hemline where the ruffle is.

The fabrics are Thai Silks and they were all machine washed and dried before making the garments. I wanted the silk to be strong enough to wear well, so I underlined each individual piece with china silk (lightweight lining fabric) before assembly.

I really like this pattern, but if you plan on closing and wearing as a blouse, you need the vanity placket (included in pattern). If you wanted to wear as a jacket, do realize that the neckline is wider at the neck (at the shoulder point) than a shirt-style blouse - it is more of a portrait neckline, so check this first before planning a jacket. If you do decide to make a jacket, you would just leave off the vanity placket.

The pants are Pandora's Pull-On Pants - right by the pattern - in the same Thai Silk. I underlined the pants with black batiste -- 1) to reinforce the silk because it will NOT hold up to a fitted garment, especially pants, without reinforcement and 2) the batiste is absorbent and much more comfortable against your skin.
