We love Trinket Boxes!  Even as a little girl I was intrigued by boxes - and I still am!  Whether they are wooden boxes, metal boxes, glass boxes, or other material, Trinket Boxes are fun to collect.  We add frequently, so please check back.

Description: I will call this a cigarette box, but I'm not sure - the cigarettes would stand, not lay down, so . . . . The box is 3 1/2"long x 1 1/2" wide x 2 3/4" high - Made in China, thick brass with copper flange for top to fit to bottom - copper decoration on top of box.

Carved Wooden Box   -   Email

Description: This is a tongue-in-groove mahogany box, 5" x 9" x 3"deep.  The top of the box has a floral design carved into the wood and the carving is in excellent condition with no chips.  The sides of the box have a groove pattern on the entire side - all the way around - even into the tongue-and-groove corners.  There is a very small spot on one corner where the grooves show a very slight (about 1/8" or less) damage to the texture of the grooves, but it really does not detract from the box.  The inside of the lid has a mirror, that does show signs of age, but could easily be replaced if desired  The original label is still attached with the number of the box (452) and that it was approved by the Mahogany Association, Inc.  The hinges are still in excellent condition and the box is really a very nice box.

Description: This is a beautiful wooden box with an inlay design on the top and a narrow inlay border around the top and around the sides, both on the lid and on the lower portion of the box.  The size of the box if 8" long, 4" wide and 1.75" deep.  The inside of the box is divided.   I believe it was a cigarette or small cigar box, but there is no label of mark anywhere.  It is really a very nice box and would look great on a desk or vanity.

Description: Beautiful matched boxes - made in China of solid brass with extremely intricate designs in relief on each piece.  Wonderful enamel work in the spaces.  Rectangle-shaped box on left has been professional cleaned and preserved about 10 years ago - bound 6-sided box on right matches the first box, but has not been cleaned/preserved yet.  There is a little corrosion evident on both pieces, but this is normal for brass of this vintage.  Most of the lighter spots on the 6-sided box are not corrosion, but rather cleaner where someone started to clean it.   Payment by Money Order, Cashier’s Check or Personal Check. Description: This beautiful brass box was made in China and I think is from he 19th century.  The entire lid is a floral relief pattern in the brass over which there is enamel work.  This colors of the enamel are still bright and clear and there was a clear coat applied over the enamel work. The sides of the box have Chinese characters engraved into the brass on all four sides and the wood lining is in excellent condition.  A nice addition to any collection.

Description: This cricket box has held a lot of excitement for children in the past.  It is 4" long and 3" wide by 2.25" high and made of brass in India.  The handle and hinge are also brass and appear carved.  The hinge is a bit crooked from use, but still works just fine.  There is a small spot of corrosion starting on the lower edge, but could be cleaned and coated and would provide scientific fun for many more years!   Payment by Money Order, Cashier’s Check or Personal Check. Description: This is a small brass trinket box made of brass and covered with wire filigree and semi-precious stones.  It is a Moghul Box from Kashmir and dates most likely from the 1950's or close, judging from the estate this came from.  There is a paper inside that explains a little bit about Kashmir and Moghul art style.  The box is hinged and is 3" across and 1 1/2" high.

Brass Silent Butler w/Lid   -   Email

Description: I think this is a silent butler.  Made in china - the enamel work would date it approx. late 1800's.  The hinge is not as we think of it, but rather a sheet of copper soldered on the inside allowing the cutouts to move independently of each other.  Size of the box itself is 6 1/2" long x 4 3/4" wide x 1" deep - handle is 3 1/2" long.

Description: This small trinket box is from India, although there is no stamp on back.  The blue stones appear to be natural - possible turquoise, the red also appears natural, possible cinnabar.  The figure in the center is a seated human figure - with a crown.  There is brass filigree work on the top and sides.  The box does need to be cleaned - I will leave the cleaning to you, though.  Size is 4"x3"x1"

Brass Cylinder-Shaped Box   -   Email

Description: I confess - I need a little help with this one.  This small cylinder-shaped box is made of a brass overlay (there is a seam in the back).  The brass sheeting even appears to be plated and what looks like copper is showing in some areas where there is wear (by the lid).  The craftsmanship is rustic and some of the rings that are part of the design appear to have been made with a tap/dye type of application.  The inside of the box looks like tin, but there is solder that really seems to be lead.  The box is 2" diameter and 3" high.  If you can offer any information, I would truly appreciate it.   Price is so I can list it.   Any chance this is an example of Trench Art???
